The Inauguration Ceremony of the Annual Sessions of 2016 was held on 16thFebruary 2016, at 3.15pm and  was graced by the Minister of special tasks Hon. Sarath Amunugama representing His Excellency the President Maithreepala Sirisena and Minister of  Megapolis and Western Development – Hon.Patali Champika Ranawaka as a Special Guest of Honour.  Members of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects, members of other Architectural Institutions in the region, foreign guests, special invitees and students from architecture field was also present at the inauguration ceremony.

Most popular trade exhibition in construction industry was held for the 34th consecutive time at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) from the 18th to 21st February 2016. The ceremonial opening of the Member’s Work and Trade Exhibition was held soon after the National Conference. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs  Hon. Harsha De Silva will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. This was opened  to  the general public from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm providing the ultimate experience with more than 300 trade Stalls and  132 display panels displaying architects’ work
   

 

 

This year’s National Conference was held on 17th February, 2016 under the Theme  ” Flows Touching the Void”, was inaugurated by the Minister  of Law & Order and Southern Development Hon. Sagala Rathnayake. World renowned architects such as  Ar. Richard Murphy who has vast experiences in the Art, Education, Housing, Health and Community Use and Master Planning.  Ar. Wong Mun Summ, who is an expert in undertaking project types ranging from Apartments, Towers to Luxury Resorts, Mass-transit Stations, Condominiums, Hotels, etc and Ar. Edric Marco Florentino, an EAROPH Golden Jubilee Award winner of EAROPH Convention held in Australia 2010, delivered the key note speeches. Sri Lanka’s renowned architects such as Archt. D.H. Wijewardene, Archt. (Dr.) Anusha Rajapaksa, Archt. Madura Prematilake and  Archt. Rathnasiri Jayasinghe were also shared their experiences in this conference.

 

The National Conference is relevant not only for architects but to anyone who has a fascination for Architecture, Design and the way our physical surroundings impact our life styles.
